Enrique Calderon, MD, is an expert in the areas of in the areas of general ophthalmology, medical retina and refractive surgery.
Dr. Calderon, a native of El Paso Texas, grew up the youngest of 6 children. His father is also an ophthalmologist and surgeon. He received his undergraduate degree from SMU, attended medical school at the Cambridge Overseas Medical Center Training Program. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and completed his internship in Charleston, West Virginia.
Dr. Calderon joins the established team of Charles A. Kirby, MD, Ira M. Long, MD and Jody G. Abrams, MD at the Chattanooga Eye Institute. The Chattanooga Eye Institute is the evolved ophthalmology practice begun by Dr. Long’s father in 1915. Today, this practice is an area leader in cutting edge ophthalmology and eye surgery, including, Lasik laser vision correction, no-stitch cataract surgery, multi-focal lens replacement, oculoplastic surgery diabetic laser surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma treatment and more. “Because of our commitment to excellence and our personal approach to treatment, our practice is experiencing rapid growth.” says Jane Bowne, practice administrator for the Chattanooga Eye Institute. The addition of Dr. Calderon is the result of this increased demand for services.”
Dr. Kirby sees the new addition as a positive step forward. “We are very fortunate to have someone of Dr. Calderon’s caliber join our practice. Dr. Calderon feels that Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Eye Institute will be a great fit for him and his family. “My wife, Carmen, and I are hikers and fell in love with Chattanooga’s natural beauty.
